Can LemonStand handle store credit for a customer? For instance, if a customer had a return and wanted store credit, can it be applied to a customer's account so he/she could us that credit a s a form of payment for a future purchase?
PS - This is part of a bigger question but I want to figure this first.

Thank you for the question. The store credit feature is not supported at the moment, but I like the idea and I added it to our wish list. This feature is similar to the gift certificates, but in this case a credit is assigned to a customer by a store administrator. We can implement the both features as a single solution. At the moment I cannot say when the feature will be implemented.

We recently had someone come to us asking if it could be done... and I'm sure it can, but it'd be even better if it were built in! :)

Is this feature any closer to completion? One of my clients wants to start offering gift cards by the end of the year and am wondering if I should bother developing a module.

We have not started implementing this feature yet, sorry. Now we are working on the subscriptions module. We are going to publish a roadmap on the website soon, so you will see which tasks are in progress and which tasks we are approaching.
