Given how far Abandoned Cart reports are down the roadmap, is there any chance this might be bumped up at all?

Failing that, is there anything missing from the core that would need to be implemented before I could roll this into an extension?

The way I see it, there are two places to capture "abandoned carts".

1. Orders. Orders that make it to the pre-payment stage and then drop off and never pay. I think this is less of an issue as these people will probably pay at some point given how far into the checkout process they made it.

2. Carts. Cart items seem to only be saved in the database for registered users. Customers checking out as Guests no not have their carts stored in the database.

Ideally, if both guest cart_items and registered cart_items were stored in the database, and a 'partially complete user' was created as soon as they they enter their email address at checkout, it would be very easily to follow up on abandoned carts.
