Failed Backups

I'm having a problem with the Lemonstand backup system. It fails to complete the backup and then leaves stuff behind in the temp folders. The backup jobs create a massive amount of disk i/o which causes my linode to send out alerts, then they fail and fill up my disk with leftovers. Is there a bug in the back up system? I have about 8 backups that say they are all in progress.
Even though my backups are set the monthly, it seems to be attempting it several times a day.

Further to my last message. The backup system just filled up my disk and crashed my site. It's kind of out of control. I deleted all of the files it left in the /temp directory and all of the backups and their corresponding entries in the database. That allowed the server to work again but the backup system immediately kicked in and started the process again. The annoying this is, I don't need lemonstand backups. I do my own backups on a file level and the entire VPS is backed up on it's own. There needs to be a way to turn it off.

Just checked - you are right, once created you cannot 'turn' the backups off :)

Hi, guys!
The backup system creates copies of all uploaded files (product images, etc). This could make troubles if you have lots of products. I will look what we can do with this.
You can disable the backup system on the System/Backup or Restore/Configure Backup System page. Select the "Do not create archives on login" item in the Backup Interval drop-down list. Also, make sure that you have no cron jobs which invoke the LemonStand backup function.
Thanks

Greetings!
Just wondering if there's been any progress towards this... we've got a good 2.2 GB of product images, which is giving the backup system a run for its money :-) Since we back those up using other methods, being able to exclude that directory from the backup would be a decent workaround.
Thanks!

Hi!
I added this task to our roadmap. You can switch to the usual hosting database backup until we implement it.

Cool. Database and file backups are being done outside of LemonStand, so I'm not too worried. I'm just a belt-and-suspenders type of guy.
Thanks!
Thanks!
